While many entities of the SBC already connect churches to serve each other, we want to offer an alternative opportunity so that you can control the costs, timing and the actual mission the Lord is calling you to.
TCMBA can assist any of our churches in planning and connecting with a partner SBC church in order to serve them. We can help you to contact a church in any part of the US/North America or overseas so that you can begin planning together how to best serve that congregation and the community around them.
HOW TO BE A CHURCH-2-CHURCH LEADER:
1. Begin with Prayer
Get a team gathered who will pray with you for God to lead you. This may not even be the team who will actually participate, but a prayer team is essential to get started.
2. Contact TCMBA for consultation
Chris or Jude Reinertson can advise and share past experiences in planning trips to San Juan, PR and to Lake Charles, Louisiana.
3. Look at the church directory on churches.sbc.net to find a listing of churches in the area you feel called to.
You can start "cold calling" at any time and see if there is an interest in having your group come. Be patient as you know how busy you are so if a strange number shows up, the person may not immediately respond. Leave brief messages and be prompt in responding to returned calls.
4. Look within your own church for connections.
Do you have people in your congregation that have a connection to a church somewhere that could host you? Maybe you have transplants from other parts of the US or the world who know the pastor of a church you can start talking with.
5. Don't be discouraged..keep pressing on
Sometimes what we think is a prompt from God is just a "great idea" we had. If you are letting the Lord truly lead, then he will definitely make it clear if you are go one place over another. Be open to new ideas and as doors may close, keep networking for another opportunity.
6. Set a Budget and Recruit Participants
This may fluxuate as you get closer to your Mission Trip dates. You will need to be clear up front with all participants of the cost, the deadlines for $, and training dates. Let others on your team help you to manage the necessary details.
